PSP1 Pockels Cell Driver

This pulse generator is based upon our older Dual Channel Pockels Cell driver which is now discontinued. Although now only a single channel it has an improved pulse shape, ethernet or RS232 control (switchable) and a slightly higher voltage.This unit will be useful for chopping laser pulses down to the 0.3 to 10 ns range. With a fast double crystal pockels cell such as those from Fast Pulse Technology and Leysop it can be used at up to 1064nm. The unit can drive cells sequentially (with some pulse degradation caused by the cell) so that very high extinction ratios can be obtained.

This unit is intended for use with a pockels cell for laser pulse chopping but may find applications elsewhere.

Suitable pockels cells will depend upon the beam aperture and wavelength, some examples are shown below.
These are all 50Ohm through connected cells and require a terminator which we can supply.

These cells use a variety of connectors. Pulsers are generally supplied with relevant cabling.
